Table/Prompt: Table 1/17. Beach
Character/Pairing: Klara
Rating: PG
Word Count: 230
Summary: Klara’s watching the people on the beach.
Authors Notes/Disclaimer: You all know perfectly well that I own nothing.
Klara sat on the deck of the house and watched scantily clad beach goers frolic in the sun and surf, the bright orb high in the heavens turning their bodies a golden brown. Silently, she marveled at how easy she was finding this rampant near nudity to accept. In her time, a deep tan wasn’t a sign of good health; it meant that someone was a low class laborer, working out in the fields much of the day. And in her time, underwear covered more than what most of these people were wearing.
Klara looked down at her own normally pale skin and noticed that she was starting to freckle. Molly had insisted that Klara smear herself with a strange smelling lotion before she had come outside, so that she wouldn’t get a sun burn. The bottle said that it was supposed to smell like citrus, but to Klara it only smelled like chemicals.
Klara had never gotten to visit the beach back in New York . That was for people who had leisure time to spent doing absolutely nothing.
She had never had that kind of time before.
