Eli pointed a finger at Tommy and grumbled, “If your girlfriend dusts me again, I’m going to kill you.”
“Me?” Tommy whined. “What did I do? How is this my fault?”
“If I listed everything you’ve done, I’d die of old age before I finished. But in this case: you’re the one who keeps bringing her to the Lair, so it’s your fault when she dusts me. And anyway, when she’s not under your influence, she’s not half as annoying as she is when it’s you two together.”
“You’re just jealous,” Tommy said smugly, “because someone wants to make out with me and everyone thinks you have the plague.”
“Tommy, I wouldn’t be jealous of you if you could spit diamonds.”
“Why would anyone be jealous of someone who could spit diamonds? Wouldn’t it break their teeth or cut open their lip or something?”
“Just shut up, Tommy.”
