Terry trailed behind Tony Stark a little ways, watching him watch Cassie Lang. Finally, he cleared his throat, closing the distance between them so that what he said would not be overheard. “Now, I know what Mr. Stark is afraid of. I’ve been close enough to him before now to have seen it. So… why can’t I see what you are afraid of?”
‘Stark’ turned his head to look at Terry, who continued to watch him with the kind of look that screamed ‘I’m not going anywhere until I get an answer.’
“Relax, I’m not going to raise the alarm,” Terry went on. “I’ve learned that it’s always a good idea to have a few secrets around here.” He adjusted his tie. “All I want to know,” he said, “is why I can’t see what scares you.”
[That is a fascinating question,] ‘Stark’ mused, his expression unreadable as he returned some of his attention to Stature.
“Would I be entirely wrong in guessing that you’re Vision?” Terry asked. “I’ve already run into Wiccan and Hulkling – the real ones – and I don’t think Hawkeye or Patriot could pull off so flawless a disguise.”
[Very astute.] For just a moment, the image of Tony Stark disappeared, revealing the red, green, and yellow android. Then the false face was back in place, revealing nothing to Terry.
Normally, Terry saw right past the false fronts people put on. Not being able to with this person was… intriguing.
