pleasance
“I feel bad about lying to my mom about what I’m doing,” Teddy admitted to Billy as they made their way to the meeting place Iron Lad had chosen this time. It was mildly irritating that Iron Lad kept changing places, but it was also understandable. Last time, they’d nearly been found by some beat cop, and wouldn’t that have sucked. He adjusted the straps of his backpack nervously, and it was almost like he could feel the weight of his costume hidden under the pile of books he’s stuffed in. “It’s… not super hero behavior, you know?”
Billy laughed, making Teddy smile in spite of himself. “That’s the price of a secret identity. Personally, I’m glad my mom’s not asking many questions yet. She’s just glad that I’ve got friends.” He rolled his eyes. “Key word in that statement? Yet.”
“Are you gonna tell your folks?”
“God, no! Mom would completely freak, and Dad would ground me until I was fifty.” He glanced at Teddy as he walked along before asking, “You?”
“I don’t know. Maybe. Eventually. When things are less crazy and we’ve made a name for ourselves. Or at least picked out some code names.”
