“Ow ow ow and ow,” Billy groaned, rolling his shoulders and shaking out his hands. A bow leaned against the wall beside him, with a single arrow laying abandoned on the floor. Kate covered her smirk with a cough.
“I told you,” she said, “that this isn’t easy.”
Billy glared at her, but there wasn’t much heat in the look. “Yeah, yeah, I’ve got noodle arms and you’re all tough. I get the message.”
Kate strung her own bow, grinning at Billy. “It took me years to get this good, Billy,” she explained. “Like anything else, it takes lots and lots of practice.” She raised a finger, waggling it at the black haired reality warper. “And if you say ‘It looks so easy in the comic books’, I will hit you.”
Billy crossed his arms over his chest as he watched Kate notch an arrow. “Teddy would get angry,” he joked, “and you wouldn’t like him when he’s angry.”
“Teddy is appropriately terrified of my mighty and awesome wrath,” Kate replied smugly, sending an arrow deep into the target’s bullseye.
