“She does not want me here. I don’t want to be here,” Laura added. “It’s all simple.”
“Don’t care how simple it is,” Logan growled back (as he was prone to do), hunting for his lightered. “You’re staying where someone can keep an eye on you, girl. And Emma can keep right on not liking it.” He smirked, finally producing the lighter and flicking it on, rolling the end of his cigar through the tiny flame.
“You’re enjoying her misery over my being here,” Laura noted.
The feral smirk grew a little wider.
“So you’re using me to your own ends. I’m used to that.”
The smirk disappeared. This pleased Laura, even though she knew it was bad to needle him like that.
