Fandom: X-Men
Characters: Julian, Victor
Prompt: 10. Neck
Word Count: 355

Summary: Julian knows that this really isn’t healthy.
Author's Notes: A Vampire Thing sequel. Finally, at long last, long after everyone had given up hope.
“I’ll stand guard, if it’ll help you sleep,” Julian offered. “Vic, you look like a damn raccoon. You know, if they were green and hairless and stuff.”
Victor looked at Julian, swaying slightly on his feet as he continued his battle against sleep, something he knew he was bound to lose soon. “If I go along with this, you’ll leave me alone about everything else?”
“We’ll negotiate that after you’ve slept. Anyway, you’re being completely paranoid. You ground his bones to dust.”
“Just… shut up, okay, Julian?”
***
Julian laid the sleeping bag out in front of Victor’s door, then went around the room, checking the crosses and garlic. “It smells like a pizza in here.”
“I’ve gotten used to it,” Victor said. “Leave it all up.”
Julian rolled his eyes. “I know, okay? I’ll leave it all alone. Now go to sleep already.” He flipped the lights off and sat down on his sleeping bag, his back against the door. The thin light from the moon seeping through the window showed him that the other mutant was still sitting up in his bed. “I mean it.”
With a disgusted sigh, Victor flopped down on the bed. Julian listened to him breathing until the pattern finally dropped into the deep, restful rhythm of actual sleep. Silently, Julian stood up and walked over to the bed, watching him. Sitting down carefully so as to not jar Victor back into wakefulness, he stretched a hand out and traced the scars on his neck lightly with a finger. Victor continued to sleep like the dead – or someone who’d stayed awake for the better part of a week and who’s body had finally caught up with them – so Julian lay down facing him, still caressing his neck.
He couldn’t seem to stop thinking about the damn things, or about Vic.
“This,” he whispered, “is so not healthy.”
