For her sixteenth birthday, Jenni Ognat's father got her a bottle of her mother's favorite scent. It was sweet and flowery, and Jenni almost never wore it.
Jenni didn't remember her mother very well. Even when she’d been alive, she'd always been so busy, always off with Uncle Don saving the universe.
And then there was the day she didn't come back. Her father had held her and tried to explain, and he had cried. It was the only time she had ever seen him cry.
