“Now,” Sam asked, watching the other end of the table warily, “how come Kitty can have a dragon, but nobody else can have a pet?”
“Lockheed’s not a pet,” Kitty argued as the purple creature draped itself across Kitty’s shoulders and stole her muffin.
“Right,” Sam drawled. “Like I believe that. I’ve got brothers and sisters who try the same trick, Kitty.”
“You’re just jealous,” Kitty sniffed, standing up. The little dragon flapped its wings and hissed at Sam.
