Summary: He's going to enjoy the festival with Hinata, even if it kills someone.
Hinata was surprised to find Gaara on the other side of her door, looking faintly annoyed. “Temari has locked me out of the office,” he said, grabbing her arm and giving it a tug, bringing her out into the hall. “I’m supposed to enjoy the festival with you.”
Hinata blushed and stumbled over her feet. “You don’t have to-”
Gaara cut her off with another tug. “I find,” he said, “that my life is easier when I humor my sister.”
Hinata gave a very small nod, letting Gaara guide her down the hall.

“You want it?”
Hinata let out a startled gasp and whirled to face Gaara. The Kazekage gestured towards the carnival prize she had been admiring. It was a shocking pink hair clasp with sparkling spangles. It was a shiny, cheap thing, but it was cute. It reminded her of something Neji-oni-sama had given her a long time ago. “Um.”
Gaara approached the booth, a slight frown creasing his face. He lay his money down, picked up a paper hoop, and set his mind to his task.

“Gaara-sama,” Hinata said, her voice shaking, “you don’t have to-”
Gaara glared at the soggy paper net, then paid for another one.

“It was a very good try, Gaara-sama,” Hinata said consolingly as Gaara glowered his way through the festival crowd. “Thank you.”
Gaara grunted, slipping his hand into Hinata’s.

The pink hair clip caught the early morning light as it filtered through Hinata’s window.
