Brooklyn almost dropped the apple, catching it before it could hit the floor. He’d been juggling it -- casually, not like he practiced the trick at all, really. Megan didn’t seem to notice, or if she did she didn’t care. And Brooklyn kinda liked that.
Normally, Alex’s little tricks gave Brooklyn headaches. Sometimes literally. But this time, with the boy bringing people from another reality over to theirs, it wasn’t so bad. Because Megan was fun, and she laughed at his jokes, and she thought he was cute.
The only down side so far was that sooner or later, she would have to go home.
Unless, of course, he could convince Megan that things were better here than there. So far, Brooklyn thought he’d been doing a pretty good job, except for the thing with the Quarrymen. But Megan said they had guys like that where she was from, too, so there was still hope.
Of course, he could try bribing Alex to stall, but that was probably creepy and wrong.
