At seventeen years old, having survived multiple attempts on his life from genocidal madmen of all stripes, having seen friends loose their powers and be slaughtered and having gone to Hell a time or two, Victor Borkowski was well aware of the fact that life was not fair. Like any teenager, he would occasionally bemoan this fact, but for the most part he accepted it and got on with his life. Of course, every now and then, something would happen to drive home the general unfairness of life, like getting stuck in a dimension where his powers were suppressed, with only Santo for company.
It wasn’t that the dimension was dangerous, or that they had no way home or anything. They were in communication with the rest of the X-Men, and they were perfectly safe. It wasn’t even the lack of powers; he could deal for the few days they were stuck there.
No. What was so profoundly unfair was being stuck there with Santo, who, it turned out, had been ridiculously hot before turning in to eight feet of lumbering rock. He was all muscles without being over-muscled, with a strong jaw and patrician nose and a head full of thick, wavy black hair, and a grin that was sexy without being deliberately sexy. And worst of all, as cliché as it was, was that Santo had absolutely no idea how stupidly hot he was.
It just wasn’t fair.
And of course, Santo spent all his time talking about how much he wanted his powers back, and how lame being normal was.
