"Somehow," Jubilee mused, "this has gotten entirely out of my control."
Jono gave her the mental equivalent of a grunt, still digging through the Salvation Army Bin of Things. Jubilee wasn't actually sure what everything was, beyond a big, mixed up, oft picked over pile. Jono had been her reluctant companion on this shopping trip when it had started; it boiled down to the fact that she was persistent, and he was the only one at the school with a driver's license (even if it wasn't actually valid in this country) who hadn't already taken off for the day. It had taken a few hours, but finally Jono had caved, extracting from her a promise that she would leave him alone for the rest of the day when they got back.
The stop at the Salvation Army had been a complete whim. Jubilee had been planning on a day at the mall, but they'd needed to get some gas on the way and the store was right across the street anyway...
The building felt more like a warehouse than a store, with only the most basic of sorting going on before things where piled into the rolling bins and put out for people to pick through. Jono dove right in like an old pro, going through each bin efficiently before moving on to the next. So far he'd come up with a pair of boots, three sets of fishnets (Jubilee didn't know what Jono planned for them, and didn't really want to know either) and some video cassettes of some British television series.
"Are you done yet?" Jubilee sighed. Jono just gave her an amused look and kept digging until he pulled out a bright yellow coat that looked exactly like the one Jubilee had on.
