Summary: Before her powers manifested, her world was defined by her fingers.
Ruth Aldine’s powers didn’t manifest until she was ten years old. Until that point, her world was centered on touch. Her parents were quiet people, and Ruth had taken after them. There wasn’t much sound to show her the way of things.
But touch opened everything to her. She identified things by texture and temperature. Even after, when she finally learned to see the world through the eyes of others, she still identified things by touch first. Touch was what gave her context.
