Jul. 12th, 2009 04:11 pmTitle: The Fortress
Fandom: Generation X
Characters: Emma Frost, Artie, Everett
Prompt: 2. Blanket Fort
Word Count: 211
Rating: PG
Summary: There was a tent in the middle of the room.
Author's Notes: I own nothing, obviously.
Emma Frost tapped the toe of her elegant white high heeled sandal against the quilt, which had been converted into what seemed to be a tent… which had been set up right in the middle of the TV room. The quilt in question was just one of several blankets that had been purloined for the structure, along with the entirety of the couch.
A small pink hand pushed the blanket up from the inside, and Artie’s misshapen head emerged. He looked up at her with eyes that seemed impossibly wide before ducking back inside.
Emma tapped the floor with her heel, though much of the impact was lost thanks to the muffling effect of the carpet.
“You have a tree house,” she sighed, “which is perfectly suited to this kind of thing. So why is it you feel the need to take up this room with… this?”
This time, it was Everett who peered out at her, looking completely unrepentant as he explained, “You can’t have a blanket fort in a tree house.”
