Angelo Espinosa held the door open for Paige Guthrie as she wrestled her groceries inside. “Anyone ever tell you that you’re a hard woman to find?” he asked.
“Anyone ever tell you that you’re pretty lively for a corpse?” she countered.
“I got better.” Angelo gave her a little shrug. “It happens. You gonna invite me in, or do I get to stand out here and scare you neighbors?”
Paige rolled her eyes and gestured for her former teammate to come inside. He looked around as he did so, eyebrows coming together to form a single, worried line. Seeing her apartment looking like it did, it was clear that his once social teammate was a few pets shy of becoming a Crazy Cat Lady. “What do you want?” she asked.
“I wanted to see you,” Angelo said. “I came back from the dead, and I wanna know what happened to everyone. Besides Jubilee and Jono, you’re the first one I’ve actually been able to find.”
Paige pushed her glasses up her nose and bustled into the kitchen, putting her groceries away. “You might want to be careful with that,” she said. “You might not like what you find.”
