“Break it off,” Gabriel Shepard said flatly.
“No,” Aiden Shepard replied through gritted teeth. “You can’t make me.”
“I’m your legal guardian, and I can do what I like,” the older speedster snapped. “And I’m telling you, you will break it off with Borkowski.”
“That’s not fair!”
“That’s life.”
Aiden’s lips pulled back from his teeth in a feral snarl. “Try and stop me!”
The thing was, while Gabriel Shepard was physically faster than his younger brother, Aiden had the Staff of One, and was adept at its use. By the time he had run back from Antarctica, Aiden was long gone.
