“I fought Skrulls,” Billy said excitedly. “And the Kree. The guy I helped rescue is the son of Captain Marvel and this Skrull Princess-”
“When are you coming back?” Victor asked, switching the phone from one ear to the other.
“I’m not really sure,” Billy said, audibly deflating. “It turns out that I might be the son of the Scarlet Witch, so things are all complicated.”
“Are you okay?” Victor asked, kicking himself for not going with Billy in the first place. But someone had needed to tell the X-Men what was going on, and they’d both left their cell phones behind in and effort to get some time alone.
“I’m fine. I’ll be back soon.”
“I love you,” Victor said quietly.
“Love you too. Sorry, I need to give this back to Kate now.”
