Summary: Billy doesn’t have much in the way of regrets.
Author's Notes: Sequel to Killing Me and Autobiography.
Billy tore the paper off the book, looked up at Victor, and grinned. “I Am Not Kermit the Frog,” he read aloud. “Much better title.”
“And a much better book,” Victor replied. “I was so doped up when I wrote the first one that I could barely put a sentence together. Anyway, consider this an early ‘Welcome Back’ present. I wanted to get it to you before someone organizes an actual party for you and Teddy.”
“Ted didn’t come back with me,” Billy said matter of factly. “He’s not coming back.”
Victor blinked, a long silence opening up between them. “Oh. Oh. I… you didn’t say. I’m sorry.”
Billy shrugged. “There’s nothing to be sorry about. Ted and I just sort of grew apart, and when I decided to come back to Earth…” He smiled, slightly sadly. “It happens.”
“Never thought it would happen with you two,” Victor admitted. “You were so… intense about each other, you know?”
“Everything is intense when you’re sixteen and in love for the first time. And we had a good relationship.” He laughed, his smile getting a bit lighter. “And God knows I wouldn’t change a single thing.” Billy started thumbing through the book. “Part of me will always be in love with him.”
“What are you going to do now?” Victor asked.
Billy shrugged. “Get on with my life, I suppose.”
